I decided to join 5MinutesForMom.com’s Blog Party because I want to meet other bloggers and share The Fab Girls with them! I learned about it from my Facebook friend Denene Miller, who is an author and blogger herself. (She helped write ‘Act Like a Lady, Think Like a Man with Steve Harvey, and you can read her Blog Party post here.)
I created The Fab Girls for a number of reasons; one is because there are a lot of negative images directed at black girls, and I wanted to provide some positive ones. There are lots of FAB Women and Girls making history, and I’ve written about some of them; from a girl who is taking a stand against bullying. a young accessories entrepreneur, a filmmaker who made a ‘first’ at Sundance, the FAB First Lady, a politician, two women serving our country and making firsts, and a woman who created the platform to celebrate the fact that Black Girls Rock!
I have my own 16-year-old FAB Girl, and dislike the lack of magazines and blogs that include images of people who look like her, so I made one up. This site includes beauty, fashion, book reviews, and pop culture news that is just for female and black girls. Because they’re worth it! Right, Beyonce?
I hope you won’t be a stranger. No matter your race or sex, come visit with us if you agree that being female and black is FAB!
